Community Outreach
We have engaged in outreach talks and activities at local primary and middle schools in the village of Tennessee on Kiritimati for over a decade. These focus on education about coral reef and shark biology and conservation. We have been able to bring videos from our dives on the reef around Kiritimati into schools, this is a unique opportunity to share what we see underwater with these classes.
In addition, during the 2017 trip, team member Tyler gave a dive safety presentation to local aquarium fish collectors and taught them how to use the DAN emergency oxygen kit that we gifted to Alfred and his divers. |

Maryann gave presentations and did activities with students at Tennessee Primary School. A big thanks to the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre (in Sidney, BC) and Staples (Victoria) for donations of craft supplies! |
